Governor Hogan Fails to Understand Who the Real Government Is

Surprised Hogan's amended order wasn't
scribbled in crayon.
Today, Governor Hogan issued a tightening of rules to deal with COVID-19.  No, the rules aren't unreasonable.  His attitude he used to deliver the message was.  Since he has isolated his staff and himself  from us common people, I had to send this letter through his portal online.  Regular mail and phone calls aren't accepted, as his website clearly stated.  When did our elected officials come to believe we are to be ruled?

Dear Governor Hogan:

"We are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay at home.  We are directing them to do so.”  Gov. Larry Hogan 3/20/20

You are mistaken.  The electorate is the government.  You are merely the spokesperson we elected to do that which we tell you to do.  You don't get to "direct" us to do anything.

Yes, I am fully aware we're living in some serious times.  Your order, as written, has more holes in it than my screen door.  My screen door keeps almost all of the mosquitoes out and I'm sure your order will go a long way in keeping most of the virus out.  I give you kudos for the effort.  Only time will tell how effective your effort will be.

But unless you grow the cajones to declare Maryland a police state, you don't get to tell us what to do.  I'll play by your make believe rules for now.  I'll make sure I have my dog on a leash as I walk down the street to drink some beer with my neighbor.

I am not asking nor suggesting you rewrite the rules.  I am telling you to clean up your act and move Maryland away from the path to a police state.  As part of the electorate (you know, the real government) I can tell - no demand - you comply.

So tell me, how comfortable do you feel having your attitude thrown back at you?
