Trump's Definition of Diversity

Image
In the last couple of days, Trump endorsed ten candidates, seven of them today, alone.  The only obvious difference between the ten candidates is they hail from different states.  Diversity goals met! Click pic for larger view Posted by A Drunk Redneck

Find the Black Man

Image
A lot of accusations are flying that Trump is a racist.  Proving someone is a racist when they don't wear white hoods or burn crosses in a minority's yard is a tricky thing to do.  For that reason, I won't call Trump a racist.  So let's play a game - Find the Black Man. Trump makes the horrible mistake of posting pictures of who he hangs out with as he pretends to be president - a documentary of sorts depicting who we should celebrate other than him.  If he weren't a bigot or racist, we would expect to find a public celebration roughly along the lines of the racial make up of the country.  For Evey 100 White people we see, we should expect to see 16 Hispanics or Latinos (non-bigots and non-racists know the difference), 13 Blacks, 5 Asians, and at least on Native American, Native Alaskan, Native Hawaiian, or Native Pacific Islander.  A truly representative government would, ideally, mirror the racial make up of the country. We don't li...

Mr. So-Called President: Amazon Ain't to Blame

Image
Dear Trump: Amazon ain't to blame for the woes of the US Post Office. USPS' woes began long before Amazon was even a blip on the Internet screen. Postal officials, Congress, and every president for the last couple of decades are to blame for USPS' failures. If Amazon truly is ripping the Post Office off as your fake news statement claims, fire the postal negotiators...fire them all! Your forte is to govern by executive order. Did your pen run out of ink? Send that foreigner you call your wife down to Wal-Mart to get you a pack of those made-in-China pens and start governing. Get that pen writing and Twitter hopping with firings. Make USPS profitable again! Thank you, A sober Drunk Redneck ps You have until the end of the month to turn the Post Office around because THAT'S YOUR JOB. Fail and YOU'RE FIRED! This is how people with big hands fire failures so make the USPS great again! Posted by Five Drunk Rednecks

"covfefe" was nothing compared to his earlier blunder

Image
After taking a nine day hiatus from tweeting, Trump, our so-called president, returned from his European trip of embarrassing America to embarrass himself on Twitter. Simply embarrassing. Ok, maybe flippancy isn't the way to make a point, but how can anyone take the hoopla made over Trump's tweet seriously, the tweet where he invented a new word, covfefe?  After all, Trump, himself, tweeted a joke about it the next morning. “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’???  Enjoy!” he tweeted. That evening, Hillary Clinton followed Trump's joke with one of her own. "People in covfefe houses shouldn't throw covfefe," she tweeted in response to Trump's tweet denigrating her for blaming everyone except herself for her presidential bid loss. In all the media's kerfuffle over "covfefe," they missed his tweets from two days earlier.  On Sunday morning, about eight o'clock, Trump tweeted: His first tweet announces his arrival...

Where have the real politicians gone?

Image
Since grade school, we have been taught how ordinary people and the great thinkers of the Colonial Era came together and embarked on the Great American Experiment.   Our Founding Fathers, many whom would go on to become our first politicians, were radical visionaries.   Governors of the thirteen colonies, like Patrick Henry, were great orators who molded the Founding Fathers' vision and sold it to the people.   And the people, like Thomas Paine and Paul Revere, embraced the vision and fought to make the vision happen. The history lessons we were taught showed us the patriotic and civic duties of every American citizen.   Those we elected to represent us were public servants.   Everything they were to do excluded the promotion of their own agenda.   They were to govern as to promote the principles defined in our Constitution and keep our Founding Fathers' vision alive and viable. I'll admit; that's the romantic view of how our country is supposed to...

How did Trump do it?

Image
Trump swore in his EPA administrator, Scott Pruitt.   He's a global warming skeptic and even sued the EPA several times. He used his position as Oklahoma's attorney general to go after the EPA for their efforts to regulate mercury, smog, and other pollutants.   Here's a Washington Post story that breaks everything about Pruitt down. Ok, it has become painfully obvious that Trump is trying to take us back to the 1950's.   Fossil fuels should burn freely since global warming is a hoax.   God needs to be returned to our schools.   Blue collar assembly line jobs need to be brought back, presumably sans robots.   Anyone publicly questioning the government should be shamed, blacklisted, and, if possible, charged with a felony. A 1950's relic thought to be extinct is alive and kicking at the EPA in DC McCarthy would be proud of this new line of censorship Trump is trying to bring to us. The list goes on, but here's what I want to know.   How ...

Playing golf ain't all that bad after all

Image
In his own words - president should be working, not playing golf Wonder what your president did all last weekend?   Well, get this.   He did what he always complained about Obama doing - played golf instead of working! While he putted on the greens under the warm, Florida sunshine, millions of jobs moved overseas with a big, sucking, "Whoooosh"; hundreds of Muslims set up terrorist shops in cities across our country; illegal aliens took over the entire southwest and spread eastward like a pestilence; and millions of bleeding hearts and artists dismantled our cities and towns brick by brick in protests and riots. The Sunday morning news didn't report all this tragedy.   Instead, the Fake News reported extensively and almost exclusively on Trump's golf game and how well he and Prime Minister Shinzō Abe got along.   In case Trumplings missed it, Trump campaigned with a consistent attack on Obama's golf playing and how he should be solving the country...

The public transformation begins

Image
We're all familiar with Trump.  That orange-ish white thing on top of his head, orange skin, and scowling facial expressions are Trump trademarks.  Yesterday, Fox News tweeted an announcement of an exclusive interview (one of hundreds they have had) with Trump.  Now look at the picture.  Is that the Trump we know and Alec Baldwin so accurately parodied on Saturday Night Live? The Trump pictured in Fox News' announcement is either expertly photo-shopped or a stunt double posed for the photo op.  This Trump is smiling, his skin color and tone is normal beige, his hair is slicked back with extra strength bonding mousse to tame that thing on top of his head, and that has to be Grecian Formula in his hair. If this makeover trend continues for the next four years, Trump just may be noted for being the first president in history to look younger and happier after his term than he did before taking office. There once was a man from Nantucket

Image
If you clicked here hoping to read an updated version of this crude limerick, think again.   I used the promise of sex to trick you into learning something.   Oh, don't look so surprised.   Everyone falls for that old trick. Limericks never get the literary credit they deserve.   Maybe it's because they are usually crude in nature.   Maybe it's because they hang out on bathroom walls.   One isn't apt to scrape something off a bathroom wall and hold it up as an example of a fine literary masterpiece.   Limericks are read, chuckled at, and forgotten once one's business is done.   Only the man from Nantucket has gained any fame from the bathroom wall. But limericks can be quite entertaining and not always crude.   They don't have to make sense, can be written in reverse, and be written with no words at all. Huh?   No words? Yup, even mathematicians get in on the game and write flowing limericks like this: 12 + 144 + 2...

Clinton thinks only Black people need college help

Image
Ok, I've already accepted the fact that any time I tune into something Trump, a bunch of White people will dominate his message.   Any time I tune into something Clinton, a bunch of Black people and/or women will dominate her message.   People of other races don't exist except for when either are going after the Latino vote.   At least that explains Clinton's "en Español" Twitter account. Whoever chose this picture to introduce free college should be fired. But the picture to the right jarred me.   It's the banner photo on Clinton's website for her stand on one of her grand social programs she wants us all to pay for - free college education .   She claims, much like Obama claimed when he introduced Obamacare, that the average tax payer won't pay for the program.   The wealthy will.   Of course, we know that's a lie.   We only have to look at Obamacare to see who really pays.   Elaborate and expensive social programs undoubtedly hit...

Clickbait Obama

Image
We know what clickbait is.   It's the hyperbole-style of writing that makes a reader want to click on a story.   The style is so compelling, resistance is often futile.  25 stars who've aged horribly - you won't believe #17  Ok, admit it.   You're mad at me because you clicked the headline and didn't go anywheres.   Of course, if I had linked it and you got to seventeen, you'd think, "Umm, yeah, I can believe it.   She's ninety-six-years-old and she actually aged pretty well, considering." You swear you won't fall for that nonsensical type headline again, then along comes President Obama and we all listen intently. His eyebrows aged better than the rest of him.  How could that be? We listen to his whole speech on gun control expecting to hear inspiring and persuasive statements and profound solutions.   Instead, we come to the equivalent of #17 and think, "Umm, is everything coming out of DC a running advertisement played...
