Matt Walsh Leads the Church of Cowards

Image
Estimated read time: 7 minutes Imagine you're on a quest to discover a literary masterpiece written by the next up and coming political or social commentator.  You journey to your local library to start your search the old fashioned way...through books, not digital media anyone can throw up on social networks.  Surely, the library with its limited shelf space will only stock the best of the best. You wander down the empty aisles of political science.  A shiny new book catches your eye.  You wipe the dust off the jacket and begin perusing it and a couple of randomly selected pages inside.  Disappointment scrawls itself across your face as you skim the pages of partisan cheering, scapegoat explanations, and vitriolic rhetoric.  As you continue your hunt down the aisle, the lines of disappointment only grow deeper and deeper as book after book offers the same junior high level of reading. For my loyal fans, all one of them, I wrote two powerful paragra...

Killing America one selfie at a time

Image
I've never understood the purpose of selfies.   I have hundreds, if not thousands, of photos (none selfies, though) no one cares about.   There's one or two I care about, but the rest...eh...just taking up room on my hard drive.   They will undoubtedly meet the fate of the hundreds, if not thousands, of photos on my old computer.   The hard drive will go up and sit in the corner of the room because I'm afraid to throw it out. Heck, just what is on that old computer anyway?   Oh now that's going to bug me as I write the rest of this article. Selfies, however, are only a symptom of a much bigger disease killing America: self-centered, selfish narcissism.   Ok, so I was redundant thrice over, but I wanted to emphasize how serious this epidemic is. Police in Palm Springs, Calif. say two prominent residents were attacked by two men on Sunday night because they are gay. Well, that's an odd place to quote that news story. Not really because n...

Foreigners seized our radio station

Image
When Matt and Crank first aired their particularly offensive show on Aug 19, 2010, there was no doubt in my mind the foreigners needed to go.   Sure, they claimed to be American, but both were from the other side of The Bay and didn't belong here.   They were rude, infantile hypocrites and quite simply weren't worthy enough to slum around with the microbes devouring the abundant chicken manure on the Shore.   Thank God Matt Walsh is long gone from the Delmarva scene.   Wherever that man walks, fungal and mold destruction is bound to flourish.     Crank finally left last year, but who has filled his shoes on the morning show of WZBH is worse than Crank.   Billy Madison of The Billy Madison Show  hasn't stepped foot on Delmarva and it's doubtful he could even find Delmarva on a map.   Thank God because if Matt Walsh left fungal and mold destruction, Billy Madison will leave a viral infection sure to kill every living thing on Delmarva. ...

Quit being a thug and get a job! Really?

Image
Editor's note: This is the unedited version of an article written for the website, What Is Matt Walsh Wrong About Today , a site dedicated to debunking our local hero's gobblydegook. While he was in Utah for a “Stand For Marriage Rally”, Matt hastily wrote his views on the riots in Baltimore .  Just like he did in another article five months ago, Matt accuses the black community of holding up violent criminals as heroes, lacking ambition to work, turning to crime, and not being involved in their own community. What Matt got right He is angry. What Matt got wrong Matt’s patronizing message, scarcely hidden beneath all his anger and vitriol, is that everyone in the Black community needs to quit being thugs, get a job, and care about their community. Almost twenty years ago I moved to Baltimore for work.  At the time Matt, also a Baltimore resident, was ten-years-old. Like many other suburban white kids, Matt was probably attending a well-funded grade school....

God does not condemn homosexuality

Note:  This is a response we gave to a post on another blog .  We took exception to the often repeated claim that God condemns homosexuality as a sin.   While we have provided the link to the blog, we do not recommend it as good, informative, or even entertaining reading. No, God doesn’t call homosexual acts a sin, either. “Man will not lie with man as he does woman” is clearly a reference to a specific act without getting crude about it. Sodom and Gomorrah was a condemnation of our inhospitality towards foreigners, but if one wants the literal sense, it was a condemnation of gay gang rape, and that’s assuming we believe the men didn’t know the strangers were angels. (If they did know the men were angels, then the literal interpretation would be God’s condemnation of bestiality.) Of course, if we took the story at that literal value, then we would have to accept that a gang rape of one’s daughter is perfectly acceptable. We also need to look at the three stor...

We've been drafted...

We've been drafted and assigned to the Mommy Wars. Stay-at-home-Moms vs working Moms. We didn't even know the Mommy Wars existed, but one of our critics is a stay-at-home-Mom and she's had enough of the nonsense. What fired her up to draft the rest of us into the Mommy Wars? Our local hero, Matt Walsh's, viral post on the subject and Susan Venker, author and stay-at-home-Mom, who we suspect is Matt Wa lsh's feminine side and maybe not a real person at all. Matt Walsh FB page description: blogger, writer, professional sayer of truths Susan Venker blog description: writer, speaker, truth-teller Now read each of their posts on the Mommy Wars: Matt: (posted Oct 09, 2012) http://themattwalshblog.com/ 2013/10/09/ youre-a-stay-at-home-mom-what-d o-you-do-all-day/ Susan: (posted on Oct 12, 2012) http://suzannevenker.com/ motherhood-apple-pie-and-matt-w alsh/ Are they the same person or what? Duck Dynasty, homophobia, and Spanish moss

Who would've thought that a family of backwater rednecks would make a huge splash in the entertainment world?   Who would've ever guessed these backwater, ZZ Top wanna-be rednecks would set the radio and TV airwaves on fire? Ok, we'll admit it.   None of us ever watched Duck Dynasty.   With all the hype over family patriarch Phil Robertson's most recent comments, we now know more about Duck Dynasty than we care to know and still have no desire to watch the show - with or without Phil.   Maybe it's just us.   We expect to see Spanish moss hanging from the Louisiana tree branches, not people's chins.   We simply can't relate to the characters. Phil Robertson's comments made to GQ magazine “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just n...

The bullies whining....

By coincidence, one of our local talk show hosts and a former local talk show host, who now airs on a station in Kentucky, posted on their respective FaceBook pages very similar posts on the same day.   For your reference, the important excerpts of each posts are reprinted below. From Dan Gaffney, host at WXDE (Delaware 105.9), FaceBook page - http://www.facebook.com/DanGaffneyShow : Important follow up: Not about the “sign” flap directly, but about the fallout from it. After attacks on my family by some ill-informed vigilantes and a few other members of the community (who will stay un-named by me for now) I need to post the following.... From Matt Walsh, host at WLAP, an AM news/talk station out of Lexington, KY, FaceBook Page - http://www.facebook.com/mattwalshradio :  Here's an email I received from an anonymous wimp this morning: "Matt, you are bringing two children into a world that is dangerous enough. They don't need their own home to be a death trap....

Our local hero on worthy prayers for brave souls

Image
We all know the drill of the far right, conservative Christians.  We've had decades of listening to them in the Republican Party and now we hear them daily in the Tea Party.  When they want to tug at your heart strings, they call for prayers for some poor soul, usually a child or another Christian.  The only time they step out of this mold is to ask for prayers for a generic group of people, usually a community that has suffered a catastrophic natural disaster.  Praying for an individual, however, is almost always a child or, if they've slipped on their martyr shoes, another Christian. Make no bones about it.  There's nothing wrong with expressing one's religious beliefs in public.  If a Christian is moved to pray for someone, by all means, pray and ask others to join in.  What is important for Christians and everyone else is to pay attention to who the self-proclaimed Christians are asking the prayers for.  A true Christian will ...

Our local hero on diversity

Image
Our local hero, Matt, has a problem with the concept of diversity.  In his world, diversity means everyone should follow the right way of living and thinking, the right way being that of the White, heterosexual, Christian male.  Everyone who is not White, heterosexual, Christian male should take a seat at the back of the bus and follow the lead of the right-thinkers.  It would serve all those "other people" well to try to learn something from the right-thinkers.  His following quote sums up his, and the conservative Christians', definition of diversity to a tee: Usually when someone says they want to "achieve diversity" what they really mean is they want to establish an environment where people of all races, nations, and orientations can work together to annihilate independent thought. Then, once this is complete, we will all be diverse in our skin pigmentation but alike in our lack of intellectual depth. Sadly, at the time of this writing, four of his fans...
