Flight of the Monarchs

A great migration of the monarch butterflies out of Mexico is already underway.  By now they have or will soon reach the Mid Atlantic states as they continue their journey to Canada.  Their migration doesn't come without controversy.  Their story starts near the end of last year's generation of butterflies.

An estimated 145 million monarchs attempted to cross the border into America this year.  The immigration is down 27% from last year, but that's still a lot of illegal immigrants coming into our country.

Once the monarchs cross the border, they have sex, lay eggs, and die.

Tragic.

After a few weeks of the anchor baby generation munching on our milk weed, they pupate into adults and head north.  During their journey, they steal our nectar from our flowers and crops. No one has calculated how many of our native bumble bees go hungry because of their nectar theft, but there's no debate about the disappearing American Bumble Bee.

When they reach the Mid Atlantic area, the anchor baby generation has sex, lays eggs, and dies.

Tragic.

The second generation repeats the actions of their parents' generation.  They munch on our milkweed, pupate into adults after a few weeks, and then head north, stealing more nectar from our American Bumble Bees.

When they near the New England states and Canadian border, the second generation has sex, lays eggs, and dies.
I better drink as much nectar as I can before
them thieves from Mexico steal it all

Tragic.

The third generation repeats the actions of their parents' generation.  They munch on our milkweed, pupate into adults after a few weeks, and then head north, stealing more nectar from our American Bumble Bees before crossing over the border into the sanctuary country of Canada.

When they cross the Canadian border, the third generation has sex, lays eggs, and die.

Tragic.

The fourth generation repeats their parents' generation with a twist. They munch on Canadian milkweed, pupate into adults after a few weeks, and then head south instead of north, stealing more nectar from our American Bumble Bees as they make their way to their homeland in Mexico where their great-great-great-grandparents started the journey nine months earlier.

When they return to Mexico, they don't have sex, lay eggs, and die.  Instead, they hang out in the trees until the following spring before they head north to the border, then have sex, lay eggs, and die, starting the whole illegal immigration cycle all over again.

Tragic.

No one knows why this generation lives seven times as long as the other three generations.  Perhaps their longevity is because they held off having sex for so long.  It's also a mystery how each generation knows where to go since none of the migrating butterflies had ever taken the trip before.

Liberals seize on that point to claim monarchs have a natural right to immigrate to and through our country.  Obviously they are genetically programmed to know where to go and what to do.  The knowledge is handed down through the genes and they can't deny their nature to follow the growing milkweed (the only plant the babies eat) as the seasons march northward and new, fresh plants sprout.  "What loving parent wouldn't immigrate to new lands to make the life of the family better and more secure?" they belligerently bellow.

Natural rights can only come from God, not the false science of genetics.  God said, "Be fruitful and multiply." not "invade other nations and freeload their resources."  The monarchs don't have a liberal invented "natural right" to come into this country, gobble up our resources, and be protected in sanctuary cities like San Francisco or sanctuary countries like Canada.

Monarchs are free loaders.  We need a wall to keep them out.  If Donnie Grumpling would stop playing with his Legos, we could have the wall built already and make our country safe for our American Bumble Bees.
